Description

Grappa produced by Gaja, a legendary name in the world of wine, in a 0.50-liter format. A spirit that captures the soul of Piedmont, a tribute to the tradition and excellence of this land. The Nebbiolo pomace is distilled in a state-of-the-art facility to preserve all the varietal aromas and fragrances intact. The still used is a discontinuous, steel still, and inside it, the pomace is passed through a jet of steam, carrying away the alcoholic vapors. These, then drawn into the distillation column, produce the distillate, which originally has an alcohol content of 70-75°C. The grappa is then aged in small barrels (225 liters) made of four different types of wood: acacia, juniper, oak, and birch. Aromas that evoke the typical scents of Piedmontese autumn: mushrooms, hazelnuts, hay, grapes, raisins, and blackberries, with hints of camphor and dark chocolate. A golden grappa. Balanced and elegant on the palate, it's a spirit that warms the heart and invites meditation.

The Gaja family settled in Piedmont in the mid-seventeenth century. Four generations have succeeded in producing wine since Giovanni Gaja in 1859, founded the winery in Barbaresco in the Langhe. Angelo, son of John, is the second generation. He married Clotilde Rey, who is credited traditionally credited with having imposed in the current company's production philosophy, oriented towards high-quality wine. The exponent of the third generation Giovanni Gaja was the son of Clotilde and Angelo Gaja, who died in 2002. Angelo Gaja, the current owner, joined the company in 1961 and made his own choices that were already his father and grandfather. He worked to spread the knowledge of state and Barbaresco in foreign markets.
