Description

What kind of wine it is

Masso Vivo is a still white wine produced by Frescobaldi in Tuscany. Made from Vermentino grapes, it displays a straw yellow colour with subtle greenish highlights. On the nose, it offers floral and citrus aromas that give way to notes of ripe white-fleshed fruit, Mediterranean scrub and sage. On the palate, it is harmonious and enveloping, characterised by a marked savouriness and vibrant freshness. Its persistence and excellent balance make it perfect for pairing with refined seafood dishes and vegetarian cuisine recipes.

Where it comes from

This label originates in the heart of the Maremma, in Magliano, from the vineyards of Tenuta Ammiraglia. The vines grow on sun-drenched hills facing the Tyrrhenian coast, blending harmoniously into the local landscape. The influence of the sea and the constant coastal breezes define the microclimate, giving the grapes the distinctive minerality that expresses the identity of the region. The winery, designed by architects Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenon, is perfectly integrated into the landscape and conceived for a production cycle focused on the utmost environmental respect.

How it is produced

After harvesting, the bunches undergo a gentle pressing. The must undergoes static cold settling, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then matures in steel in contact with the fine lees, an essential step to give breadth and preserve the original fragrance of the grape variety. At the end of the process, a period of bottle ageing perfects its aromatic and flavour balance before release to the market.

History and Curiosities

The Vermentino Masso Vivo owes its name to the imposing yellow cyclopean stones that emerge near the Ammiraglia Estate. Nestled in the heart of the Maremma, in Magliano, the vineyards benefit from the breeze of the nearby Tyrrhenian coast, which imparts the wine with the distinctive minerality typical of the region. The designer winery, created by Piero Sartogo and Nathalie Grenon, stands as a true temple of design perfectly integrated into the landscape’s geometry. The estate ensures excellent wine production while operating in full respect of the surrounding environment.
