Description

What kind of wine it is

The Langhe Nebbiolo Prinsiot by Fratelli Alessandria is a still red wine that expresses the authentic character of Nebbiolo grown in Piedmont, in the Langhe region. On the palate, it stands out for its elegant and harmonious profile, supported by a silky tannic structure. Careful ageing in barrels, followed by time in steel and glass, gives the sip a smooth structure and an estimated longevity of up to six years. Perfect throughout a meal, it offers a taste true to the grape variety's characteristics.

Where it comes from

The wine is produced in Verduno, drawing from plots divided among the Neirane, Pisapola and Sotto Orti vineyards. Situated between 270 and 400 metres above sea level with west and south-east exposures, these vineyards ensure excellent aromatic definition. The roots delve into calcareous and silty soils, providing natural balance and fine tannins. The label's name comes from the Piedmontese dialect nickname of the Fratelli Alessandria family, historically linked to this production.

How it is produced

The production process begins in October with the manual harvesting of the grapes. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled steel tanks for seven to nine days, carefully extracting the aromatic potential. Maturation continues for six to eight months in French or Slavonian oak barrels, then stabilises in steel and glass. This ageing process, which concludes with bottling, enhances the purity and identity of the fruit.

History and Curiosities

“Prinsiòt” is the historic nickname in the Piedmontese dialect of the Fratelli Alessandria family, who have been signing this label since 1964.

The heart of the winery lies in the large 18th century house with its understated yet majestic lines, very close to the historic centre of the village of Verduno.

Gian Battista, his wife Flavia, brother Alessandro and son Vittore are the proud custodians of the family’s winemaking tradition and passion, which date back over a century, and represent the seventh and eighth generations of winemakers (the first three generations as Fratelli Dabbene and then as Fratelli Alessandria following a marriage which took place in around 1870).

The winery vinifies only estate grown grapes and has maintained a family dimension. These qualities make it possible to establish a direct and "personal" relationship with the individual vineyards and barrels, an invisible but important connection that we hope will reach and inspire consumers when they drink our wines.
