"One of my first memories in Montalcino dates back to an afternoon in the summer of 2002, when I was eight years old and sitting under the centuries-old oak tree located at the heart of our estate. I remember my father mentioning that we would not be producing the great Brunello cru, Poggio al Vento, that year. Evidently, it was not the most exceptional of vintages, but I remember thinking it was a great pity. As I gained more experience in the wine industry, a clear objective started to emerge: to seek out, each year, the great cru for that vintage, selecting the finest fruit from a single plot that best expresses the uniqueness of the year’s conditions. For me, this is the only way to build a liquid memory of each harvest. The climatic unpredictability we've experienced in the past decade has made clear the complexities of relying on a single vineyard, and how an itinerant selection of the best fruit will yield the best rewards." Perfume

The intial aromas give bright red fruit, which is well integrated with the oaky aromas; beautiful hints of peach and violet follow with hints of menthol on the close.

Color

Lot.1 is an intense ruby red, with light hues of garnet.

Taste

The grip on the palate is gratifying, with great finesse and elegance, supported by a good tannic structure (the polymerisation of tannins before bottling was above 45%). The initial notes of oak dissipate leaving a sensation of sweetness that is noticeably present on the tongue and underneath the lips, followed by a satisfyingly crisp close. Lot.1 is a thorough wine, significant, enjoyable, elegant and of great freshness.
