Description
Still red from Oltrepò Pavese, Lombardy, 14.5% ABV, 100% Pinot Noir. Produced by Conte Vistarino, a historic winery since 1674. A Pinot Noir that tells the story of a family and a terroir, with great fruit integrity. Alcoholic fermentation in wooden conical vats, malolactic fermentation in spring in barriques. Aged for one year in French barriques, at least one year in bottle. Complex and ample, with aromas of violets and small red fruits, toasted coffee, and cocoa. Great fruit integrity. Deep ruby red with typical garnet highlights. Elegant and full-bodied, with intact and evident fruit, balanced with a pleasant minerality and a long, spicy finish. Well-defined and harmonious tannins make this wine elegant yet with an austere backbone from attack to finish. Complete and intriguing nose-palate correspondence.

In so doing, we have help enhance the reputation of the wines of the Oltrepo Pavese, the area to the south of Pavia.
Carlo Giorgi di Vistarino introduced the pinot nero grape to the Oltrepo Pavese between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, going on to win awards in both London and Paris for the sparkling wines thus produced. His work was taken further by Ottaviano and Carlo, and is today in the hands of Ottavia Giorgi di Vistarino.
