Description
What kind of wine it is
Chartogne-Taillet's Chemin de Reims Champagne is a Blanc de Blancs with a bold personality, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes using the Traditional Method. On the palate, it reveals a distinctly dry profile, supported by a powerful and rounded structure that ensures a long-lasting finish. This Extra Brut version perfectly balances vibrant freshness with intense aromatic depth, making it the ideal glass to accompany shellfish, sushi and light fried dishes. Its elegance and balanced taste also make it excellent with lean fish, delicate vegetarian dishes and soft cheeses.
Where it comes from
This Blanc de Blancs originates from the hills of Merfy and is the pure expression of the eponymous Chemin de Reims parcel. The Chardonnay vineyards benefit from an ideal south and south-east exposure, a key factor in achieving optimal ripeness while maintaining pronounced freshness. The raw material comes from vines of varying ages, where historic stocks are combined with younger vines to provide a complex vision of the region. The meticulous care Chartogne-Taillet dedicates to vineyard management enhances the connection with the soil, translating the unique characteristics of the terroir into a glass with authentic character.
How it is produced
The production process of this Champagne follows a rigorous philosophy, from harvest to natural fermentation. The base wine matures for a long time in oak barrels, acquiring refined complexity without compromising the fruit's liveliness. To preserve the integrity of the raw material, no filtration is carried out before the secondary fermentation in the bottle according to the Traditional Method. Ageing on the lees gives richness to the structure, while the low dosage ensures a vertical, clean and profoundly dry finish.

The family's wine-making tradition traces back to 1490, with Nicolas Taillet and Fiacre Taillet in 1540. In 1700, a second Fiacre Taillet, a learned winegrower, wrote his memoirs recounting his life and all the important events in the village, his family and his profession.
