Kavalan Distillery

Kavalan Distillery is located in Yuanshan, Yilan County, Taiwan, and is the only whiskey distillery in the country. It was completed and put in place in 2005 by Tian Tsai Lee, a magnate of King Car, a reality that has been engaged in drinks for decades.

The first production dates back to 2008 and since then Kavalan has been awarded numerous international awards and prizes. Thanks to the subtropical climate of the country, the maturing of Kavalan whiskeys is greatly accelerated: it is enough for a period of just two and a half or three years before bottling to get an evolved product ready for the market.

The distillery has 35,000 aging barrels, all oak previously used for bourbon or sherry, for an annual production of about 9 million bottles.
