Description
What kind of wine it is
Orus, produced by Vinosia, is a still red wine with Indicazione Geografica Tipica from Salento, in Apulia, matured in steel and an authentic expression of the Primitivo grape variety. With a deep ruby red colour and intense dark highlights, it reveals a fruity and spicy bouquet characterised by distinct notes of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, plum, wild berries, cinnamon and a delicate hint of liquorice. On the palate it is dry, velvety and notably concentrated, with a full body. The structure is balanced by a pleasant freshness and soft tannins, leading to a persistent and harmonious finish.
Where it comes from
This wine originates in the heart of Salento, a renowned wine-producing area of Apulia. The vines take root in a medium-textured clay-limestone soil, an ideal composition for producing rich, full-bodied grapes. The area's pedoclimatic environment is reflected in the wine's character, giving density to the sip and an enveloping tannic texture. Vinosia enhances the production area through meticulous care aimed at fruit purity and aromatic clarity. Thanks to these characteristics, the wine has a strong ageing potential, capable of evolving positively over time.
How it is produced
The production process begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, which are then destemmed and gently pressed. The must remains in contact with the skins for about seven days, essential for extracting colour and polyphenolic components. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, partly using indigenous yeasts to preserve the grape variety's identity. The subsequent complete malolactic fermentation softens the flavour profile, giving roundness to the sip. After the necessary rackings, the wine matures in steel for about six months before bottling.
History and Curiosities
Founded in 2004, Vinosia combines the ancient Apulian winemaking tradition with a rigorous contemporary vision, aimed at capturing the authentic soul of Salento. Orus is born from a meticulous mid-September harvest, followed by a seven-day maceration and partial fermentation with indigenous yeasts that enhance its purest identity. Careful ageing in stainless steel for six months, together with complete malolactic fermentation, gives the wine a seductive velvety structure and a concentrated character, also ensuring excellent longevity.
