Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne 1er Cru L’art Terre Brut Nature by Thomas Perseval is an authentic expression of its terroir and a blend that harmoniously combines Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Crafted according to the rigorous Traditional Method, it contains no added sugar, revealing a clean and dry profile. In the glass, it displays a straw yellow colour enlivened by a fine perlage, offering a bouquet of fruity aromas and notes of brioche. On the palate, it is well-structured, characterised by vibrant tension and a distinct mineral imprint.
Where it comes from
The grapes are grown in Chamery, a Premier Cru village nestled like an amphitheatre in the Montagne de Reims Natural Park. The various plots benefit from diverse exposures and take root in a mosaic of sandy-silty soils, sandy clays and clay-limestone. This specific geological matrix gives the wine a pronounced savoury streak. The vineyard management follows the principles of organic farming, favouring manual interventions. Among the rows, cover crops are sown and natural herbal teas are used to preserve the balance and vitality of the vines, enhancing the identity of the terroir.
How it is produced
Thomas Perseval adopts parcel vinification to enhance the individual expressions of the vineyard, keeping oenological interventions to a minimum. The base wine ferments and matures on the lees in oak barrels for eight months, acquiring greater aromatic definition. The subsequent secondary fermentation in bottle faithfully follows the Traditional Method, maintaining the purity of the Brut Nature.
History and Curiosities

For generations, the company has been cultivating cereals and 2.5 hectares of vineyards. The cultivated grapes are mainly Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and in small part older rarer varieties (petit Meslier, arbanne and pinot bianco); these give complexity and authenticity to the cuvee of the Domaine. The six parcels located in the middle and lower part of the hill on sandy loamy soils, sandy clays and limestone clay make it possible to create expressive wines with parcellaire vinification. The operations are all manual. Herbal teas are applied on the vineyards, sowing of plants among the rows that allow to air the ground. In the cellar the operations are limited to give the optimal quality and aromatic taste.
To improve the quality and give a greater aromatic power, the wines rest on the yeasts and in oak barrels for eight months, the interventions are minimal and the use of reduced sulphites. In the 80s, Thomas's parents created the Perseval Harteel brand, they left the cooperative and with the use of a traditional press they began their production independently, favoring quality.
At the end of the 90s Thomas after a period of internship with a biodynamic wine producer in Burgundy is aware of the need to let the fruit freely express its characteristics The choice to switch to organic represents its concept of agriculture and its vision of the future. The Domaine has been certified organic farming since 2012 and in 2015 the first certified organic cuvee were produced. Read more
