Description

What kind of wine it is

Morso Rosso Susumaniello by Tenuta Viglione is an organic red wine with Typical Geographical Indication from Puglia, boasting an enveloping character, made from Susumaniello grapes. This wine, fermented in French oak barrels, displays an intense and floral aromatic profile, enriched with clear notes of cherry, violet and black olive. On the palate, it reveals a vigorous texture, supported by a pronounced acidity and refined tannins that lead to a harmonious finish.

Where it comes from

The grapes are grown in the Murge area, cultivated in spur-pruned cordon vineyards located at four hundred metres above sea level. The exposure of the rows and the nature of the calcareous-clay soils create an ideal environment for the ripening of the bunches. Harvesting takes place in the last ten days of September, enhancing a Puglian territory renowned for its balance between freshness and intensity.

How it is produced

The process begins with alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels, followed by a six-month period during which part of the batch undergoes maturation in wood. This technical approach gives the wine a solid body, characterised by a notable dry extract and well-balanced acidity. To fully appreciate its essence, it is recommended to decant for an hour before serving at 18-20 °C, making it ideal paired with flavourful first courses and mature cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The Morso Rosso Susumaniello 2024 by Tenuta Viglione celebrates a tradition dating back to 1937, encapsulating the spirit of the Murge region. Among its distinctive features is the packaging: the darkly designed bottle is adorned with elegant monochrome floral illustrations. The label also includes a convenient QR code, providing direct access to additional information and instructions for proper disposal.

"Time runs fast when we devote it to the things that we care most: this my grandparents knew, then my parents, and now it’s true also for me. It’s about one hundred years since my family began to work in these vineyards, with passion and dedication, making a simple dream become a wonderful reality, that we proudly tell every day with our wines."
