Description

What kind of wine it is

Mezzo Braccio Riesling from Tenuta Monteloro is a still white wine produced in Tuscany exclusively from Riesling grapes. It skilfully combines freshness and aromatic precision with a soft, well-structured body, standing out for its distinct savoury character. Ageing on fine lees gives depth to the palate, ensuring the wine has a potential evolution over time estimated at up to ten years.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in the hilly area of Fiesole, on the outskirts of Florence, where Tenuta Monteloro enhances a territory unusually suited to the cultivation of aromatic grape varieties. Its name recalls an ancient Florentine unit of measurement, rooting the product in the history of the region. In the glass, it appears a bright straw yellow, while the nose opens with a bouquet recalling white flowers, dried apple, aromatic herbs and petrol notes.

How it is produced

The manual harvest takes place in two distinct stages: the first in mid-September preserves acidity, while the second in October encourages the concentration of aromas. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine rests on fine lees at low temperatures, completing the process with a final maturation of at least six months. At the table, it enhances shellfish dishes, white meats and fresh cheeses.

History and Curiosities

The Mezzo Braccio Riesling from Tenuta Monteloro takes its name from an ancient Florentine unit of measurement. Produced since 2007 by Antinori, it enhances the unique terroir of Fiesole, which is ideal for aromatic grape varieties. In the 2021 vintage, manual harvesting in two stages preserves freshness and maximises sugar and aromatic concentration. Awarded the Quattro Viti AIS, this Toscana IGT stands out for its savouriness and smoothness.

The Antinori estate is located in the hills behind Fiesole and preserves the remains of an ancient agricultural activity of the Medicean era.

Thanks to the particular climatic and environmental characteristics, in the vineyards white varieties have been planted that are unusual for the area, such as riesling, pinot grigio, pinot bianco and gewurztraminer.
