Description
What kind of wine it is
Santus Franciacorta Satèn Brut is a Lombard Traditional Method wine that fully enhances Chardonnay. In the glass, it displays a golden yellow colour and clear aromas of ripe fruit and citrus. On the palate, the creamy and silky texture typical of the Satèn style emerges, supported by a pleasant savouriness and a fine perlage with persistent mousse. Its balanced profile makes it ideal for accompanying seafood starters, sushi and light risottos.
Where it comes from
The grapes for this Franciacorta come from the vineyards of the Santus winery, cultivated using organic farming. The soils of fluvio-glacial moraine origin give the wine a pronounced mineral character. The spur-pruned cordon training system and low yields ensure perfect fruit for sparkling wine production. These territorial characteristics define a harmonious and elegant organoleptic profile.
How it is produced
Production strictly follows the Traditional Method, beginning with gentle pressing and a brief skin maceration. The first fermentation takes place in wooden barrels, a choice that enriches the wine's structure. The subsequent refermentation in the bottle is followed by ageing on the lees for at least twenty-four months, which imparts softness and complexity. The dosage without added sugars delivers a dry, vibrant sip that is deeply connected to its place of origin.
History and Curiosities
Santus Franciacorta Satèn Brut is born from the passion of Maria Luisa Santus and Gianfranco Pagano, winegrowers since 1995. Produced exclusively from organic Chardonnay grapes on a sustainable and energy self-sufficient estate, this vintage sparkling wine embodies Lombard excellence. The Satèn style ensures lower pressure in the bottle, offering the palate an enveloping silky sensation. The 24-month ageing on the lees and the choice of a dosage with no added sugars enhance the vibrant minerality and profound elegance of this wine.

In the space of three years, they planted about 60.000 vines over an area of 10 hectares and they now take personally care of vineyard management.
The Santus philosophy is based on the firm belief that a small wine grower’s mission must be to protect nature’s diversity and its many nuances, by rejecting standardization in any form.
In order to emphasize the strong vine-climate-terroir bond, no cuvée wines are produced and only single-vintage wines are bottled.
Harvesting occurs quite late into the season, giving all Franciacorta Santus wines a mineral character, complexity and structure combined with great drinkability. Read more
