Description
What type of wine it is
Barolo Le Vigne by Sandrone is a red wine with the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG) featuring a bright garnet red colour, obtained from the vinification of Nebbiolo grapes grown in the heart of Piedmont, with fermentation in steel and ageing in oak barrels. On the nose, it reveals lively aromas of black fruits, rose and violet, interwoven with elegant nuances of cola nut and graphite. On the palate, it is balanced and of great structure, offering clear aromas of forest fruits. The tasting is supported by mature and silky tannins, with a generous and exhilarating finish that confirms the remarkable elegance and stylistic consistency of the wine.
Where it comes from
This label by Luciano Sandrone stems from the historic Langhe custom of creating a blend of different parcels, combining grapes from the municipalities of Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d’Alba, Novello and Serralunga d’Alba. The project involves the renowned vineyards of Vignane, Villero, Le Coste di Monforte, Merli and Baudana. Thanks to the diversity of exposures, altitudes and soil types, and by keeping the batches separate until the final composition, the wine expresses a complex and coherent profile, capable of delivering an authentic vision of the Barolo territory.
How it is produced
The production process involves spontaneous fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts, accompanied by maceration in steel tanks. After completing malolactic fermentation, the wine continues its maturation process inside French oak barrels, where it consolidates its aromatic texture. Only then are the portions from the individual sites blended. The artisanal approach concludes with eighteen months of bottle ageing, resulting in a harmonious and absolutely precise sip.
History and curiosities
Barolo Le Vigne carries on the ancient art of blending grapes from multiple vineyards. At its inception, it combined the Vignane and Merli vineyards, expanding in 2010 with Baudana, in 2011 with Villero and in 2019 with Le Coste di Monforte. Following this historic custom of the Langhe, the grapes are kept separate until the blending stage. The wine is also one of the key figures in the ‘sibi et paucis’ project.
