Description

What kind of wine it is

Roagna's Dolcetto d’Alba is a still red wine that showcases the Dolcetto grape in its purest form. This expression of the Dolcetto d’Alba denomination stands out for its fresh and immediate flavour profile, offering a very enjoyable sip in its youth. While it is ideal for everyday meals, it also displays a surprising ageing potential. The glass reveals a balanced drink, capable of enhancing food pairings with great versatility.

Where it comes from

The grapes come from Roagna's own vineyards, located in Piedmont. The distinguishing feature of these plots is the presence of old vines that are over fifty years old, rooted in deep limestone soils. This particular geological composition imparts a marked freshness and clear fruit definition to the wine. Such agronomic characteristics provide the structure needed to evolve over time, while always maintaining a strong connection to its place of origin.

How it is produced

Vinification follows a strictly traditional approach, characterised by a long period of submerged cap maceration that can last up to one hundred days. This prolonged extraction technique ensures great stability and precisely defines the aromatic profile. Afterwards, the wine matures for a year, resting between wooden barrels and concrete vats, materials chosen to preserve varietal purity and harmonise the tannins. To best enhance its nuances in the glass, it is recommended to decant for one hour before serving.

The true heritage of the Roagna family vineyards are the old vines. Plants that are at least 50 years old, in some cases even up to 80 years old. Vines that continue to produce few grapes but of high quality. Care and attention is dedicated to this heritage in the various estate vineyards between the Barbaresco and Barolo areas, in order to obtain a final product of the highest level.

Wines that fully express terroir, in the true sense of the term, where the grape variety and its place claim recognisability and authenticity in the glass. This is the desire of Alfredo and Luca Roagna.
