Description
What kind of wine it is
Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore by Nino Franco is a sparkling wine made from the Glera grape variety. In the glass, it shines with a straw yellow colour, crossed by a fine perlage that anticipates aromas of exotic fruit, ripe apple, almond and white flowers. On the palate, it is pleasant and fruity, well balanced by a delightful freshness and subtle mineral notes that lead to a clean finish. This profile makes it ideal for convivial occasions, accompanying flavourful starters, cured meats, cheeses and small pastries.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, in the province of Treviso. The vineyards are situated on steep slopes, cultivated with strict manual management. The presence of calcium-rich soils is fundamental in giving the wine its pronounced mineral character and distinct freshness. The viticultural approach aims to preserve the balance of each vine, enhancing the identity of the Venetian territory to ensure a decisive and authentic expression.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. The must is immediately cooled to protect the aromatic component and ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The secondary fermentation takes place in a pressurised tank according to the Martinotti method, ideal for defining the delicate texture of the sparkling wine. Maturation continues in steel and concludes with a rest in the cellar for about thirty days, allowing the organoleptic profile to reach its final harmony.
History and Curiosities
Founded in Valdobbiadene in 1919, the Nino Franco winery is a family-run business that has passed down its passion through three generations. Under the guidance of oenologist Primo Franco, the company has distinguished itself as a pioneer of single-vineyard DOCG Prosecco, a choice that has revolutionised the denomination. On the steep limestone hills, the five hectares of estate are tended with manual viticulture aimed at rigorously preserving the health of each vine. From this artisanal dedication come prestigious sparkling wines, celebrated by the international critics with outstanding ratings.

But it was the "quiet revolution" of Primo Franco, Antonio’s grandson, that brought the wind of change, opening the doors of the best restaurants in the world to his Valdobbiadene Prosecco wines. Primo bravely crossed the Piave, leaving behind an agricultural world that exclusively evolved around itself.
Primo’s new wave of Prosecco – authorial, intimate and identifying – is the embodiment of his experiences: travels, encounters, meetings with chefs and gastronomes of the Nouvelle Cuisine, studies in enology and passion for architecture, as well as conversations and drinks with friends.
Today, after making history for a century, Nino Franco is the icon of Valdobbiadene Prosecco. While observing the utmost respect for his homeland, he undid – using quality and imagination – all the prejudices against an easy and standardized wine, one considered as an endowment of a rustic and pragmatic culture.
