Description
What kind of wine it is
Marengo Nebbiolo d’Alba Vigna Valmaggiore is a still red wine from Piedmont, characterised by an intense ruby red colour. Its aromatic profile reveals rich notes of ripe red fruit, accompanied by clear hints of liquorice, dried flowers and spices. On the palate, it is balanced and appropriately tannic, offering a sip with good body and a pleasant smoothness. The finish stands out for its harmonious persistence, faithfully reflecting the varietal characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape.
Where it comes from
This red is born in the heart of the Langhe, in the municipality of La Morra, a renowned area in Piedmont for the cultivation of Nebbiolo. The identity of the terroir is expressed in Nebbiolo d’Alba through a structured and complex texture. The Marengo winery leads the production, enhancing the natural qualities of the vineyard. Thanks to this careful attention, the wine boasts extraordinary longevity, with the ability to evolve positively in the cellar for ten to fifteen years.
How it is produced
Nebbiolo grapes are vinified to enhance a full and deep structure. The wine is aged and bottled on site, ensuring maximum quality control at every stage of production before being released to the market. To fully appreciate its aromatic nuances, it is recommended to decant for about an hour and serve at a temperature between fourteen and sixteen degrees Celsius. At the table, it proves ideal paired with robust flavours, naturally complementing roasts and game, mature cheeses, as well as dishes based on lamb and pork.
History and Curiosities
Since 1899, the Marengo family has passed down its dedication to the Piedmont region, giving life to this exceptional Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC. The 2024 vintage, overseen by oenologist Giuseppe Caviola in La Morra, enhances the pure grapes sourced from the renowned cru Vigna Valmaggiore. Carefully matured, this fine wine boasts an impressive 97 points from James Suckling and an extraordinary longevity of 10-15 years. An authentic and captivating expression of the Langhe, conceived to offer a memorable tasting experience over time.
