Description
What kind of wine it is
Marcarini Barolo Brunate is a red wine from Piedmont, produced from Nebbiolo grapes. A true expression of Barolo, this wine stands out for its garnet red colour with delicate ruby highlights. On the nose, it reveals a broad and persistent bouquet, where notes of vanilla, sweet spices, tobacco, mountain hay and undergrowth blend together. On the palate, it displays a noble and velvety character, accompanied by a warming sensation and a long aromatic persistence that enhances its complex flavour profile.
Where it comes from
This wine originates from the historic Brunate cru, located between the municipalities of La Morra and Barolo. The vines grow at an altitude of around three hundred metres, benefiting from optimal south and south-west exposure that ensures full ripening of the grapes. The soil, of calcareous and clayey origin, has a significant concentration of magnesium, a key element in giving Nebbiolo a solid and defined structure. The vineyards are trained using the espalier system with Guyot pruning.
How it is produced
Production by Marcarini begins with a meticulous selection of the grapes at harvest. Vinification involves temperature-controlled fermentations and maceration in contact with the skins for about four weeks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes a period of ageing in oak barrels for at least two years. The entire process concludes with limited technological intervention during bottling, in order to preserve the wine’s integrity and identity.
