Description
What kind of wine it is
Torrette is a still red wine produced by Les Crêtes. This blend combines Petit Rouge and Pinot Noir grapes, reflecting the Aosta Valley landscape in every nuance. It displays a ruby red colour and a refined bouquet with scents of violet, dog rose and fresh hints of small red fruits. On the palate, it is elegant and delicate, well balanced and accompanied by a subtle acidic streak that gives great liveliness to the sip.
Where it comes from
The vineyards are located in the historic area of Valle d’Aosta Torrette, on loose morainic and sandy soils characterised by steep slopes. The heroic viticulture of Les Crêtes is practised on steep terraces situated in the municipalities of Sarre, Aymavilles, Saint-Pierre, Gressan and Saint-Christophe. Agricultural management follows strict organic and sustainable practices, in full respect of the mountain environment.
How it is produced
Production begins in mid-October with a careful manual harvest. In the winery, fermentation takes place in steel for eight days at a controlled temperature, with daily pump-overs to encourage optimal aromatic extraction. Subsequently, the wine undergoes eight months of ageing in steel, a technical choice aimed at fully preserving its original fragrance and freshness.
History and Curiosities
Torrette encapsulates the essence of Valdostan heroic viticulture, the result of the dedication of the Charrère family who, for six generations, have cultivated terraced vineyards on Alpine slopes. Produced by the Les Crêtes winery, this wine is born between 500 and 650 metres above sea level on sandy and moraine soils. The soul of the cuvée is Petit Rouge, an ancient grape variety from the Orious family, always grown at high altitude, able to blend with the land to express the most authentic mountain tradition in every sip.
