Description
What kind of wine is it
Langhe Bianco by La Spinetta is a still white wine with controlled designation of origin, made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes in the heart of the Langhe, Piedmont. On the palate, it is substantial, supported by a vibrant minerality and a refined acidity that leads to a clean finish. On the nose, it offers an intense bouquet of grapefruit, tomato leaf and lemon zest, enriched by hints of pear, yellow plum and flint notes. The skilful use of wood imparts aromatic complexity and structure, while preserving the freshness and identity of the grape variety.
Where does it come from
In Piedmont, the vineyards are located in the municipalities of Mango and Treiso, at an altitude of 400 metres. The high elevation and southern exposure ensure balanced ripening and excellent acidity. The soil is characterised by calcareous marl, an ideal matrix for imparting pronounced savouriness to the glass. Production comes from an area of just two hectares, a limited yield that demonstrates the great care devoted to viticulture.
How is it produced
After harvesting, vinification involves fermenting the must in French oak barrels. Ageing takes place in the same containers for eighteen months, a choice that enhances the wine’s texture and highlights its fruit. This is followed by a six-month rest in the bottle, essential for defining the acid tension and expressive harmony. Thanks to this production method, the wine is elegant and suitable for those following a vegan diet.
History and Curiosities
Produced since 1999, Langhe Bianco by La Spinetta is an outstanding Sauvignon, made famous by its historic label featuring a rhinoceros. This refined wine originates from thirty-year-old vineyards situated at 400 metres above sea level between Mango and Treiso, where the rich calcareous marl imparts a distinctive mineral character. The winery’s artisanal approach results in a very limited annual production, enhanced by eighteen months of maturation in French oak and a period of bottle ageing that consolidates its vibrant harmony.
