Description
Poderina Rosso di Montalcino is a Red wine from Montalcino DOC of Tuscan origin, produced in the town of the same name in the province of Siena. The Poderina winery is part of the Tenute del Cerro group, formerly Saiagricola, and produces this red wine in its vineyards located in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate area. It is produced using exclusively Sangiovese Grosso grapes, which is also the most typical variety of the Siena area. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, with separation of the grapes by type and appreciation. The selected grapes are then left to macerate for a period of approximately ten, maximum twelve days, with daily pumping over. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, between 24° and 26°. The process of making Poderina Rosso di Montalcino is long and delicate. The wine obtained from fermentation is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels and French oak barriques for approximately nine months, then transferred back into stainless steel barrels for further maturation. Only then is it bottled and released. This wine can be aged for up to five years. Over the years, it has won numerous awards and received excellent national and international reviews.

Thanks to a company philosophy that believes in innovation at the service of tradition, La Poderina wines are matured in French oak barriques and large casks. In addition, high-quality training systems are adopted in the vineyard with yields of 60 quintals per hectare, well below the 80 quintals the specifications allow.
The Brunello wine is produced in two versions: "Poggio Abate" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. La Poderina also produces Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Moscadello di Montalcino DOC. Read more
