Description

What kind of wine it is

Haderburg's Gewurztraminer is an organic white wine with a distinctly aromatic profile, a true expression of Alto Adige's vocation. In the glass, it displays a bright straw yellow hue, enhanced by elegant golden highlights. The bouquet is clear and distinctly recalls floral notes of rose, hints of muscat and blackcurrant leaf. On the palate, it is full and structured, standing out for its pleasant sweet-savoury contrast that enhances its remarkable persistence of flavour.

Where it comes from

This white wine originates from Salorno, an area where the Aromatic Traminer grape variety finds the ideal climatic conditions to develop its complex personality. The vineyards, trained using the Guyot system, take root in calcareous-clay soils that give the sip a natural savoury character. Careful vineyard management ensures low yields, guaranteeing a raw material of great concentration. Haderburg's commitment translates into a limited production, aimed at preserving the high quality and territorial identity of each individual bottle.

How it is produced

Harvesting takes place in mid-September, when the grapes reach their perfect balance. The subsequent fermentation in stainless steel tanks is a technical choice designed to preserve the delicate varietal profile of the grape intact. The result is a wine with solid structural consistency and excellent drinkability. Served at a temperature of 12°C, it pairs elegantly with hot starters and dishes based on oily fish, and also proves to be an ideal companion for strong-flavoured cheeses.

History and Curiosities

This organic Gewürztraminer from Haderburg is a tribute to the wine-making tradition of South Tyrol. Born in Salorno, it tells the story of a family devoted to oenology since the 1970s. Produced since 1986, it enhances the essence of the Aromatic Traminer with a limited production of 1,860 bottles per year. After a September harvest, fermentation in stainless steel preserves the complex aromatic fragrances, offering a deep and persistent sip.

The Haderburg – our winery's namesake – is located on a rugged mountain promontory on the edge of Salurn, the southern-most viticultural community in South Tyrol. Above Salurn, primeval grape-growing soil and good climatic conditions have created the prerequisites for distinct red and white wines and sparkling wines.

In the mid-1970s, we made the daring transformation from being a fruit-growing farm concerned only with the production and sale of grapes and apples to a winery which processes its own grapes. Since that turning point, our enthusiasm for good wines and champagnes has set the tone for the work in the vineyards and in the wine cellar.
