Description
What kind of wine it is
Folonari Brunello di Montalcino La Fuga is a red wine capable of expressing the authentic soul of Sangiovese. Within the Brunello di Montalcino denomination, this wine reveals a complex aromatic profile, where intense hints of red fruits blend with notes of leather, incense and cocoa. On the palate, it is warm, enveloping and supported by elegant tannins. The tasting concludes with a long and persistent spicy and balsamic finish, which highlights its solid and harmonious structure.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from the vineyards of Tenuta La Fuga, located on the south-western slope of Montalcino. The vines thrive on rich, sedimentary soils at four hundred metres above sea level, with an exposure facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. Mount Amiata acts as a natural shield, fostering an ideal microclimate where warm temperatures are tempered by a constant sea breeze. These soil and climate conditions ensure optimal plant development, guaranteeing the right balance between freshness and ripeness of the fruit.
How it is produced
The production process begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes in October. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with a fifteen-day maceration aimed at ensuring optimal colour extraction. The long maturation of four years takes place mostly in Slavonian oak barrels, allowing the wine to evolve and acquire a deep structure. A final and essential ageing in bottle of at least twelve months completes the process, preparing the wine for a splendid evolution over time.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1996 in Montalcino, this fine red wine embodies the ancient tradition of the Folonari family, active in the wine sector since the 18th century.
