Description

What kind of wine it is

La Gattara is a red wine with a bold character, created from a careful blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes. In the glass, it displays a brilliant ruby red hue, hinting at a rich aromatic profile of ripe fruit intertwined with delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it reveals a solid structure, offering a long, vibrant sip with remarkable persistence. Its balance makes it the ideal pairing to enhance meat dishes, flavourful pork-based preparations and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This red comes from the Marche region and is a proud representative of Rosso Conero. It is produced by Fattoria San Lorenzo, a winery led by oenologist Natalino Crognaletti, who embraces the principles of organic farming. Working on a limited vineyard area, the company adopts a purely artisanal philosophy. This approach fully enhances the Marche territory, ensuring the grapes achieve natural complexity and a pronounced aromatic intensity.

How it is produced

Vinification is based on spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts, which is essential to preserve the genuine essence of the fruit. The subsequent long maceration on the skins extracts colour and body, defining the wine’s structured profile. This rigorous process ensures excellent longevity, with an estimated ageing potential of between ten and fifteen years. To fully appreciate its qualities, it is recommended to serve it between 16 and 18 degrees after about an hour of decanting.

History and Curiosities

Founded in the Marche region in 1995, Fattoria San Lorenzo is led by oenologist Natalino Crognaletti, a firm advocate of organic farming. La Gattara 2019, a captivating Rosso Conero DOC, is produced using indigenous yeasts and a spontaneous fermentation with extended skin maceration. This authentic artisanal approach, applied to just 24 hectares of vineyards, gives the wine a vibrant structure and complex intensity, ensuring an extraordinary longevity of 10-15 years in the bottle.

An advocate of the organic method and beyond, Natalino has always proposed very recognisable, unique Verdicchio wines, to which spontaneous fermentation, long rests on the skins and the use of indigenous yeasts give inviting, complex aromas and a satisfying sip. The same fine qualities are repeated with the long maceration reds, d Montepulciano and Syrah.

Very special wines, from old vineyards, appreciable above all if drunk with the right knowledge and all the attention they deserve.
