Description
What kind of wine it is
Terre de Bussière is a still red wine produced by Domaine de la Janasse, crafted in the Rhône Valley in the Principauté d’Orange area. Created from a blend of Merlot, Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers an enveloping sip. The aromatic profile reveals raspberry, blackcurrant, liquorice and spices. On the palate, it displays a fruity and silky texture, with notes of black fruits, leather and hints of Mediterranean scrub, finishing with long persistence. It is the ideal pairing for Mediterranean cuisine and flavourful spiced meats.
Where it comes from
The wine originates from the Bussière vineyard in Courthézon, on gravelly alluvial soils near the Ouvèze river. The Domaine de la Janasse winery manages the land with a careful organic approach. The grapes come from old vines over forty years old, including century-old stocks that ensure low yields and great character. The viticultural environment of the Rhône Valley encourages a deep and natural aromatic concentration.
How it is produced
After manual harvesting and partial destemming, the must undergoes a brief maceration on the skins. The spontaneous fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, respecting the essence of the grape varieties. The wine matures for twelve months in oak barrels, developing structure and balance. The artisanal process ends without filtration, with bottling regulated by the lunar phases to preserve the aromatic component and the natural finesse of the fruit intact.
History and Curiosities
Born in 1973 from the talent of Aimé Sabon, this captivating red expresses the soul of Domaine de la Janasse. The grapes thrive in the Bussière vineyard in Courthézon, enhanced by the alluvial and stony soils of the Ouvèze river. The estate operates under strict organic practices across sixty plots, tending vines that are over a century old. The artisanal approach is reflected in the manual harvest and traditional bottling, timed according to the lunar phases. This meticulous care results in exceptional quality, acclaimed by the finest critics.

Due to its fragmented structure -more than sixty plots- the area of La Janasse covers a mosaic of terroirs. Thorough research on soil, exposure and microclimates helped to ideally organize the vineyard. White varieties and syrahs were preferably planted on sandy limestones, exposed eastward of the appellation in order to preserve freshness, acidity and fineness. Mourvedres were planted on clay-limestone soils covered with river rocks so as to reach perfect maturity. Read more
