Still red Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC, 15.5% ABV, blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault, produced by Domaine de la Janasse. 0.75 L bottle, 2022 vintage. A Châteauneuf-du-Pape that embodies the tradition and excellence of the Rhône Valley, produced by Domaine de la Janasse, founded in 1973. Maceration for 21 to 28 days. Aged 80% in stainless steel and 20% in barrels (30% new) for 12 months. Aromas of black fruit, violet, scrubland, and blackberry. Intense crimson, almost black. Beautiful finesse, good acidity, and well-integrated tannins.

Due to its fragmented structure -more than sixty plots- the area of La Janasse covers a mosaic of terroirs. Thorough research on soil, exposure and microclimates helped to ideally organize the vineyard. White varieties and syrahs were preferably planted on sandy limestones, exposed eastward of the appellation in order to preserve freshness, acidity and fineness. Mourvedres were planted on clay-limestone soils covered with river rocks so as to reach perfect maturity. Read more
