Description

What kind of wine it is

Tenores Romangia Rosso is a still wine that expresses the intensity of Cannonau. Its deep ruby colour reveals a layered aromatic profile, with notes of cherries in spirit, leather, juniper and chilli chocolate. On the palate, it displays an enveloping structure, balanced by pronounced freshness and savouriness. The integrated tannins lead to a finish with clear balsamic notes. It pairs well with spiced red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

This red is produced in Sardinia, in the Romangia area, within the municipality of Sennori. Under the guidance of Dettori, the vines are bush-trained in the historic cru Badde Nigolosu. The Romangia designation defines a precise territorial identity, influenced by the Mediterranean scrubland. This strong connection to the natural environment ensures remarkable longevity, offering over time a genuine representation of the Sardinian terroir.

How it is produced

The process is based on natural and biodynamic vinification, excluding animal-derived additives, making the wine suitable for a vegan diet. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts. Maturation lasts thirty-four months in cement and glass vats, with no use of barrels. The absence of filtration and clarification results in a craft expression with substance, true to the Cannonau grape variety.

History and Curiosities

The Romangia Rosso IGT Tenores 2019 by Dettori embodies the purest soul of Sardinia. Its name pays homage to the traditional Canto a Tenore and reflects its powerful and harmonious character. Born from pure Cannonau grapes in the Badde Nigolosu cru, this red wine represents an uncompromising oenological vision. Its natural vinification, carried out with indigenous yeasts and without filtration or additives, is completed with 34 months of ageing between cement and glass. Thus, an artisanal and vegan excellence is created, making each bottle unique.

The Dettori company is a family of sheepherders and farmers who has been making authentic, distinctive, terroir-expressive wine since the early 1900s. The wines were always sold in demijohns until 1981 when the company began bottling a portion of the production.

Tenute Dettori is located in the extreme north-west corner of Sardinia, in the Romangia del Logudoro area, the "golden place" between Sassari and Castelsardo, where the company looks after the "Badde Nigolosu" cru.

This historic hinterland is the classic home of the Cannonau grape, which flourishes on the high hillslopes that form a natural theatre facing the Gulf of Asinara at only 4 kilometres from the sea. Here, at Badde Nigolosu, Tenute Dettori cultivates solely ancient clones native to Sardinia, tending them in accord with the tenets of biodynamic agriculture. We utilise only concrete vats for natural fermentations and maturation since the company does not need oak barrels for softening tannins. Meticulous work in the vineyards means that the grapes arrive in the cellar already exhibiting all the qualities required for making a great wine.

We have always worked in the service of our terroir, without compromise. But we have never been alone. Many wine lovers and professionals have trusted us. They tasted, selected, told and sold our wines. Over the years, Badde Nigolosu’s wines have met the most authoritative professionals in the world of wine. Without them today we would not be here yet.
