Description
Still red from Marlborough, New Zealand, 13.5% ABV, 100% Pinot Noir, produced by Cloudy Bay. 0.75 L bottle, 2022 vintage. A Pinot Noir that embodies the essence of New Zealand terroir, with a history dating back to 1985, when Cloudy Bay was among the first wineries to invest in this region. Hand-harvested from March 24th to April 11th. The grapes are destemmed before being placed in open fermentation tanks. The grape skins remain in contact with the skins for approximately 18 days. Aged in French oak (35% new barrels) for 11 months. It expresses the quintessential character of the variety with notes of berries, blackberry, blueberry, and coffee. Ruby red in color. Fine, silky tannins and juicy acidity provide an elegant structure, with a complexity that comes from the delicate characters of toast and forest smoke.

The winery was named after Cloudy Bay, a stretch of water explorer Captain James Cook came across during his voyage to New Zealand in 1770. His discovery coincided with flooding in the region, which washed large amounts of sediment into the sea. Noticing the water’s opaque appearance, Cook cleverly christened the area Cloudy Bay.
Today, Cloudy Bay not only captures the essence of Marlborough but also embodies New Zealand's luxury to the world. The luxury of space and time, of intimate moments and nature’s rarest qualities. Read more
