Description
What kind of wine it is
Fleur de Pedesclaux is the second wine of Chateau Pedesclaux, a deep ruby red that embodies the essence of Pauillac. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot reveals aromas of ripe red fruits, floral notes, almond and orange zest. On the palate it is juicy and concentrated, characterised by a silky texture and velvety tannins, with a lively finish of blackcurrant and plum. Its harmonious structure makes it ideal for pairing with grilled red meats, stews and mature cheeses.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from Pauillac, in the heart of Bordeaux, from the estate's own vineyards. The vines, with an average age of thirty-five years, sink their roots into deep Garonne gravel soils over a precious limestone subsoil. This particular composition ensures optimal drainage and consistent ripening, promoting impeccable tannin definition and a pronounced aromatic concentration. The rigorous manual harvest is carried out only when full ripeness is reached, to offer a glass capable of reflecting the precision of its terroir of origin.
How it is produced
The winery adopts gravity-fed vinification without pressing, filling the vats by gravity to preserve the integrity of the bunches. An initial cold maceration precedes a long stay in the vat, aimed at extracting colour and polyphenols progressively. The wine then matures for twelve months in oak barrels, partly new; a fundamental stage to develop the structure and integrate spicy and vanilla notes without ever overpowering the vivid expression of the fruit.
