Description
What kind of wine it is
Lianti by Capichera is a still red wine that expresses the essence of the Sardinian territory. Made from Carignano grapes, it belongs to the Isola dei Nuraghi denomination. To the eye, it displays a ruby red colour with slight garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of cinnamon and rhubarb, intertwined with black fruit jam and mocha. The palate is full and enveloping, characterised by notes of ripe fruit and a fine and elegant tannic structure. The pronounced freshness accompanies the sip, finishing with a persistent mineral note.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from vineyards located between Sulcis and Gallura, areas constantly tempered by sea breezes. The vines grow at about twenty metres above sea level with east and south exposures, sinking their roots into granitic soils. These soils, rich in sandy, clay and calcareous components, precisely define the wine's savouriness. The training systems include bush vines on their own roots, espalier and Guyot. Careful yield management favours the aromatic concentration of Carignano, enhancing the historic winemaking vocation of Sardinia.
How it is produced
Red vinification allows for optimal extraction of colour and structure, outlining a harmonious and balanced profile. Ageing in the cellar consolidates the delicate balsamic hints and notes of Mediterranean scrub, preserving the integrity of the fruit. To fully appreciate its bouquet, a one-hour decanting and a serving temperature between fourteen and sixteen degrees are recommended. At the table, it pairs ideally with ragù-based first courses, braised red meats, game and classic roasts. It is also excellent with mature cheeses.
History and Curiosities
Capichera Liànti celebrates the deep dedication to Sardinian native grape varieties and is born from fine Carignano grapes cultivated between Sulcis and Gallura. The name, which means “East” in dialect, is a tribute to the rising sun, also evoked by the ancient Tomb of the Giants depicted on the label. The vines sink their roots into unique soils, formed from granite decomposition, which give this Isola dei Nuraghi IGT its distinctive mineral character. An enveloping red wine that masterfully encapsulates the authentic soul of Sardinia.

Capichera's story began in the early 20th century, when the grandfather of today's owners inherited a farm of over 50 hectares, in what is now the municipality of Arzachena, in the extreme orth of Sardinia: an area already famed for its suitability for winegrowing. In those days the vineyards produced just enough wine for the family, who lived in the town of Arzachena but liked to spend Spring at the farm at Capichera.
In the Seventies, the father of today's owners planted new vineyards of Vermentino, the typical local grape variety, and built a modern winery for the production of high quality wines.
In 1980 the first wine was sold under the Capichera label, a Vermentino radically different from those already on the market: it was richer, more fragrant, smoother, and longer-lived than other, more important wines.
In the 1980s brothers Fabrizio and Mario began to work in the winery, and although very young, invested their energy in a difficult challenge: making Capichera a leader in top quality wine production.
Today Capichera is a young winery, with its own rich history of development in quantity, and above all quality, of experimentation, innovation and progressive improvement of the products and the production and management processes.
The original 10 hectares of vineyards have become 60 today and others are being planted; production is now around 300,000 bottles, and will increase by 80% over the next few years.
The vineyards belonging to the Capichera winery are of the highest quality possible in Sardinia; this land has been well-known for centuries for its agricultural potential, which has also been confirmed by laboratory analysis. The vines are the result of scrupulous selection in Capichera and in France, by selected nursery gardens working under the supervision of the winery's own experts. Capichera's Vermentino and Carignano vineyards are - and will remain - unparalleled in quality. Read more
