Description

The Spumante Brut by Arunda is the reflection of the territory where the winery is located, the highest in Europe specializing in the classic method, in the heavenly municipality of Meltina north of Bolzano. The winery was founded in 1979 by Josef Reiterer who, with his wife, decided to return to breathe the air of home and to give the world of sparkling wines the fruit of artisanal care and passion. The company does not have its own vineyards, but the always careful selection of grapes takes place at trusted winemakers located in different areas of Alto Adige. The location, although it may seem impervious due to the altitude, is actually perfect thanks to the peace and clean air that allow the sparkling wines to rest and evolve naturally.

The Arunda Brut is a timeless classic, produced with 50% Chardonnay grapes, 30% Pinot Bianco and the remaining part of Pinot Noir, the latter subsequently vinified as a white wine. The grapes are harvested from vineyards grown in porphyry, moraine, and clay soil. The sparkling wine ages for approximately 30 months on selected traditional yeasts that are left "free" to evolve and obtain the typical fruity, ample, and fragrant bouquet. All the processes are carried out by the couple with the aim of uncompromising quality, and the dosage is done without additives but with Pinot Bianco and sweetened syrup.

After becoming well known in Italy as a consultant and representative at Seitz, a renamed company producing enotechnological products, the appeal of home grew stronger and stronger.

"The 1200 meters of altitude of Meltina were ideal for the refining of sparkling wines". Reiterer was convinced. "Furthermore, the natural temperature variations of this altitude could allow a natural and peaceful maturation of our wines. It takes at least 24 months to give the Arunda sparkling wines that richness, elegance and complexity that has made them famous. Some Cuvée rest in the cellar even 60 months before the bottles come, as per tradition, disgorged and sent for sale".
