Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Grande Reserve by Andre Clouet is an outstanding Blanc de Noirs Brut, made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in prestigious Grand Cru plots. In the glass, it displays a light golden yellow hue and a bouquet that releases fruity and citrus notes enhanced by floral nuances. The palate is generous and velvety, supported by a harmonious balance of freshness, minerality, and dosage. Produced using the Traditional Method, it offers a long aromatic persistence, confirmed by the prestigious scores awarded by leading industry publications.
Where it comes from
This Champagne originates from Bouzy, in the southern part of the Montagne de Reims. The vines take root in soils composed of calcareous clay, a soil matrix that gives the palate a clear mineral tension and a pleasant savouriness. The area's cool climate ensures the aromatic precision and lively freshness characteristic of the Brut profile. The plots, all classified as Grand Cru, cover nine hectares and are part of the Andre Clouet estate, a historic winery founded in 1741.
How it is produced
Production involves the manual harvesting of Pinot Noir grapes and strictly follows the stages of the Traditional Method. After the prise de mousse, a long maturation on the lees of around forty-eight months gives the wine an elegant structure and lasting depth. The Brut dosage is calibrated to enhance the interplay between liveliness and smoothness, ensuring a harmonious evolution over time. To highlight its aromatic intensity, the ideal serving temperature is between 6 and 8°C.

It took more than two centuries and several generations of Clouet to get plots of vines in the terroir of Bouzy, which remain in the hands of the family of its founder. Bouzy is situated in the Southern part of the Mountain of Reims. The 9 hectares are classified as 100% Grand Cru. Only 17 of the 300 existing villages benefit from the status of Grand Cru, Bouzy being one of them. Lovingly tended vines ripen perfectly Bouzy pinot noir, one of the world's most complex strains. There is 8,000 feet per acre and soils are cool with calcareous clay. Read more
