Description

What kind of wine it is

Barbera d’Asti La Crena is an organic red wine from Vietti, made from the Barbera grape variety. Its intense ruby colour precedes a dark bouquet of blueberry, iris and undergrowth, combined with hints of cinchona, liquorice and sweet tobacco. On the palate, it reveals a dense texture, supported by an excellent balance between freshness and smoothness. The rounded tannins lead the long fruity persistence towards a slightly bitter finish, making it ideal with roasted red meats, game and mature cheeses.

Where it comes from

The wine originates in Piedmont, in the Asti area, from the La Crena vineyard in Agliano Terme. The vines, well exposed to the south, grow on silty-clay soil, which is essential for giving depth and body to the glass. Trained using the Guyot system, cultivation follows the strict principles of organic and sustainable agriculture. This approach preserves the connection with the environment, ensuring a pronounced aromatic identity and the solid acidic structure necessary for remarkable longevity.

How it is produced

The process begins with a cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation in open steel vats. Punching down and pumping over accompany the time on the skins for optimal structural extraction. After racking, malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques, thus softening the dense texture of the must. Ageing lasts about eighteen months and is divided between steel, barriques and large casks, creating a solid harmony and an elegant woody imprint.
