Medicinal herbs such as mint and thyme are also present, along with a faint balsamic note that fades to pine. The most recognizable characteristic is a grassy undertone that permeates the entire wine and blends beautifully with the warmth of the fruit. A fairly intense ruby red. On the palate, it is broad and deep, medium-bodied, juicy, and dripping with blackberries and cherries. The tannins are light and velvety, and the herbaceous and earthy flavors balance the fruit for a smooth and enveloping sip. Acidity tends to be low.
