Description
Albe is the Barolo from the Vajra G.D. winery, which takes care of its vineyards with passion and dedication. This DOCG Barolo is produced in the municipality of the same name, in a small hamlet called Vergne. The grapes that make up this wine come from three vineyards: Coste di Vergne, Fossati, and La Volta. Located in the highest part of the municipality, they enjoy proximity to the Tanaro River and a climate that is sunny during the day and has a marked temperature range at night. The name Albe derives from the poetic idea of the sun caressing the grapes. Albe is plural because it is the union of the three different vineyards—each with its own terroir, exposure, altitude, and climate—that makes this classic Barolo special. Thanks to these differences, Barolo Albe manages to balance all the aromas of the Langhe and convey the company's passion for nature and its rhythms. The Piedmontese company grows 100% Nebbiolo grapes for this wine. The harvest begins in the second half of October, when passionate hands carefully pick and select the bunches, taking the utmost care not to damage them. The vinification takes place in red and the wine is then left to ferment for a period ranging from 25 to 40 days, depending on the vintage and the type of vineyard. The Barolo Albe then ages for a full 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels before being bottled.
