Description

Roundhouse Gin Barrel Aged is a new type of gin produced in Boulder, a small town in Colorado known for its numerous distilleries, including the Roundhouse Distillery, founded by Ted Palmer. Breathing new life into traditional gin, the recently released Barrel Aged variety relies on distillation methods closely reminiscent of whiskey, presenting itself on the market as a true hybrid product, halfway between gin and whiskey. Originally developed in the medical field to combat fever among the Dutch who landed in the East Indies during their conquests and explorations, gin has increasingly become a recreational and tasting product, born from the distillation of various types of grains and the addition of botanicals, that is, herbs and spices added during the production process to give flavor. Among these, juniper plays a prominent role, so much so that it gives this well-known spirit its name. With the development of gin production techniques and its variants, Barrel Aged Gin was also born in the 2000s. It is initially distilled like a whiskey, redistilled a second time with the typical gin botanicals, and aged in barrels, just like whiskey. This series of processes results in a hybrid spirit that is much more full-bodied and distinctive than traditional dry gin, thanks to barrel aging. It is produced and sold with seriousness and expertise, along with a wide variety of other spirits, at the Roundhouse Distillery in Boulder, which has specialized in distilling and brewing for many years.
