Description

What kind of wine it is

Barbaresco Pora Riserva by Produttori del Barbaresco is a full-bodied red wine that enhances the characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape variety. It displays a deep ruby colour and reveals a profound aromatic profile, with hints of red fruit jam, balsamic notes and a delicate spiciness. On the palate, it offers a full and velvety body, supported by expressive fruit and a well-defined tannic structure that ensures a long finish. Its harmonious taste derives from careful ageing in barrels, which shapes the wine's elegance without overpowering the natural character of the grape.

Where it comes from

This expression of Barbaresco Riserva originates from the Pora vineyard, located in Piedmont. This cru benefits from the moderating influence of the Tanaro river, which gives the grapes a marked aromatic finesse. The vines grow between two hundred and four hundred metres above sea level, rooted in clay and limestone soils with sandy veins, essential elements for imparting structure and complexity. The continental climate, characterised by dry autumns and excellent southern exposure, ensures a consistent and precise ripening of the grapes.

How it is produced

The production process begins with a careful manual harvest to preserve the integrity of the bunches. In the winery, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, maintaining contact with the skins for twenty-four days through frequent pumping over, to achieve optimal extraction. After racking, the wine matures for thirty-six months in oak barrels, completing its evolution with a further period of rest in the bottle. This process defines the complex tannic structure and ensures the wine has remarkable ageing potential.

History and Curiosities

Originating from the prestigious cru of the same name, Barbaresco Pora Riserva embodies the authentic spirit of the Produttori del Barbaresco winery, a Piedmontese excellence founded in 1958. Made from hand-picked Nebbiolo grapes, this 2021 vintage matures through a slow 36-month ageing in oak barrels and 8 months in bottle, offering a sip with a full and velvety body. Awarded 95/100 by James Suckling and Vinous, it captivates with its intense aromas of red fruit jam and delicate balsamic notes. A prestigious production limited to just 20,000 bottles.
