Description

What kind of spirit is this?

Montevertine London Dry Gin, produced by Montevertine in Tuscany, is a clear spirit crafted from grain alcohol and select botanicals. At 42% ABV, it delivers a dry, clean, and balanced style. The profile features intense juniper, brightened by lively lemon peel and kumquat. Fresh herbal nuances of fig and walnut leaves add depth, leading to a defined finish with a lingering floral note of orris root.

Where it comes from

Hailing from Radda in Chianti, Tuscany, this spirit is produced by Montevertine, a brand with a winemaking legacy dating back to 1967. The recipe relies on local botanicals foraged directly from the estate and surrounding woodlands. This deep connection to the terroir shapes a distinctive character, built upon the natural synergy of regional herbs and vibrant citrus.

How it is produced

Production follows the London Dry Gin method to extract pure aromas. Botanicals undergo maceration in grain alcohol, naturally releasing their essential oils. A subsequent slow distillation ensures a crisp, highly defined aromatic yield. The precise integration of juniper, citrus, and leaves guarantees a clear spirit with a refined and perfectly dry palate.

History and interesting facts

Hailing from Radda in Chianti, Montevertine London Dry Gin marks the Manetti family’s elegant expansion beyond the renowned wine production they established in 1967. Montevertine is located in the heart of the Chianti hills, in the town of Radda in Chianti at 425 meters high. The site was certainly inhabited since the 11th century. In fact, there are still traces of the original building, certainly defensive, then transformed into a lodging.
Montevertine was purchased in 1967, Sergio Manetti, then the steel industry, as a holiday home. He restored the house to make it habitable and just planted two acres of vineyard and set up a small store with the idea of producing a 'wine for his friends and customers.
The first year of production, 1971, was more discreet and Sergio Manetti decided some bottles at Vinitaly via the Chamber of Commerce of Siena. It was an immediate success and so enthusiastic about Mr. Manetti that after a few years he abandoned his core business to focus solely on wine. New vineyards were planted, new wineries, and this without any interruption, with a development company that still lasts.
The farm, after the death of Sergio Manetti in November of 2000, is now run by his son Martino Manetti collaboration with Bruno Bini, born in Montevertine and deep knowledge of the area and land. Giulio Gambelli, expert wine taster, offers his advice and assistance in the preparation of wines.
