Description

What kind of wine it is

The Mirafiore Alta Langa Diavoletto Brut is an organic sparkling wine with a distinct personality. Made from a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this Traditional Method wine displays a straw yellow colour enhanced by golden highlights. On the nose, it reveals notes of bread crust, white-fleshed fruit and delicate hints of dried fruit. On the palate, it is fresh, savoury and harmonious, with a long, clean finish. Characterised by a fine and persistent perlage, it pairs perfectly with aperitifs, shellfish, seafood and cheeses, served at a temperature between 6 and 8°C.

Where it comes from

This wine originates in Piedmont, in the heart of Alta Langa. The Mirafiore winery, located in Serralunga d’Alba, manages its vineyards according to the principles of organic farming, with the aim of preserving the integrity of the land. The unique microclimate of the hilly areas gives the grapes the freshness and savouriness ideal for long ageing, defining the dynamic style and great drinkability that characterise this production.

How it is produced

Under the guidance of oenologist Andrea Conti, the primary fermentation takes place in cement vats. Afterwards, the wine matures in large Slavonian oak barrels, where it develops structure and complexity. The secondary fermentation in the bottle, following the rules of the Traditional Method, is followed by ageing on the lees for at least 30 months. This long rest shapes the flavour profile and enriches the aromatic bouquet, resulting in a fine and elegant mousse that offers an enveloping and exceptionally clean sip.

History and Curiosities

Originating from Serralunga d’Alba, the Mirafiore Alta Langa Diavoletto Brut 2021 embodies the most refined Piedmontese tradition. This organic and sustainable cuvée of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir ferments in cement vats before maturing in large Slavonian oak barrels. The sparkling process, using the Traditional Method, involves resting on the lees for at least 30 months, ensuring a fine and persistent perlage. On the palate, this Brut is fresh and savoury, paying homage to the Alta Langa DOCG with aromas of bread crust and a long, clean finish.

Casa Di Mirafiore is located in Serralunga d'Alba (Cuneo), in the Piedmont region. The winery was founded at the end of the 1800s by Count Emanuele Alberto of Mirafiore, son of Vittorio Emanuele II and La Bella Rosin.

Since 1878, Casa E. Di Mirafiore has been overlooking this UNESCO world heritage landscape with his estates in Barolo and Serralunga, the heart of one of the world's most famous wines: Barolo. It is also thanks to Casa E. Di Mirafiore that the world is aware of Barolo. It is in fact the first winery to export Barolo worldwide.

This estate is synonymous with quality, as it is home to two of the best Cru vineyards in the Langhe: Lazzarito (on one of Serralunga d'Alba's most magnificent slopes) and Paiagallo.

In this town, Serralunga d'Alba, tradition is never forgotten. Even today, the style of Casa E. Mirafiore is defined by fermentation in concrete tanks and enormous Slavonian oak barrels for ageing.
