Description
The Nebbiolo d'Alba Bricco Barone is produced by the Marziano Abbona winery, founded in the first half of the 1950s by the first "Marziano" and his son Celso, with the aim of enhancing the potential of the Dogliani territory, with the right mix of courage, foresight but also a strict respect for tradition. Today Marziano Abbona together with his family leads the company in the search for uncompromising quality with a passion for craftsmanship and in perfect cohesion the territory vinifies the great wines of the Langhe with excellent results and exports at an international level. In the constant search for quality, however, there is no lack of respect for nature: in the 52 hectares of the winery, viticulture is sustainable, with the least possible number of treatments and with non-invasive practices such as grassing and the absolute ban on systemic pesticides.
On the happy hills of Monforte d’alba in the hamlet of Rinaldi, with only Nebbiolo grapes, the Marziano Abbona Nebbiolo d’Alba Bricco Barone was born in 1990. Destemmed and crushed, it is brought to spontaneous alcoholic fermentation using indigenous yeasts, in contact with the skins in steel tanks at a controlled but variable temperature with peaks of up to 30°C for 29 days. The racking takes place dry and after the first fermentation, the malolactic fermentation takes place, which is completed completely. After filtration, the wine rests in the bottle for 4 months before being released for sale at a controlled and constant temperature of 14°C. A wine with great longevity and robustness, Bricco Barone is a Nebbiolo rich in aromas, with a slight smoky touch.

The Langhe are based on soils of Miocenic origin of Helvetian type, composed by clayey marls rich in active limestone.
Its layout, looking like dolphin's backs, suggests a geometry varying continuously the exposure to the solar arc.
Sun, water and land are fundamental elements for the well-done success of a good year.
Doriolo, San Luigi, Rinaldi are names reminding immediately some of the most prestigious exposures of the Langa's territory, where a generous sun matches with an almost perfect composition of the soil. Read more
