Description

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a wine produced in the Chieti, Pescara, and all the southern provinces of the region of the same name. It is a red wine, made from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The wine has obtained the DOC designation: the stringent production rules require the use of 100% Montepulciano grapes, with no Sangiovese contaminated. Aged in oak barrels for 18 months, it completes its maturation in the bottle for an additional 3 months. It is a red wine, with a full-bodied aroma and spicy notes, perfect for accompanying meat and game dishes. The wine is produced in a moderately cold climate, but strategically exposed to the influence of the sea current, which gives the grapes their distinctive flavor and character, which influences the wine's magnetic persistence. The ferrous notes of the soil, combined with the silt present in the subsoil, give the grapes a particular yet distinctive note of this Abruzzo product. The Marramiero Inferi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a wine that is made in the eponymous winery, 300 meters above sea level: maturation using the Ganimede method in barriques for 18 months, further aging for 14-18 months in Slavonian oak barrels, and subsequent refinement in glass bottles for another 6 months give the wine an intense and refined character. The name "Inferi" is registered in opposition to the well-known Trebbiano "Altare", another protagonist of Abruzzo winemaking. The wine is stored in the dark, at a temperature of approximately 16°C. The transition from steel to wood softens the tannins and makes it ideal for pairing with red meats, game, and cheeses.

We have been growing vines since the turn of the last century, producing wines that can be easily recognised by the labels bearing the founder’s unmistakable seal. A D and an M intertwine in a root, knotty and stubborn, determined not to detach itself from the ground on which it grew. A mark representing wines that continuously strive to outdo themselves.

We know every plant inside out and each day we care for them all as they grow, with methods handed down from generation to generation, integrated with innovative viticulture research, experimentation and continuous training. The identity of our wines, characterised by a strong territorial mark, is formed in a specific process for each vine and each wine, from the plant to the cellar.
