Description
Furore Rosso is the pride of the Marisa Cuomo winery, a family business run with passion since 1980 by the entrepreneur and her husband Andrea Ferraioli. The DOC Costa D'Amalfi wine takes its name from the native town, Furore, perched on the slopes of the coast, between rock and sea. It is a still red nectar, made with a blend of 50% Aglianico and 50% Piedirosso grapes. Aglianico is an ancient red grape variety, native to Basilicata, Campania, and Puglia. It grows in sunny areas and is characterized by a purplish, very pruinose grape. Piedirosso is a native Campanian grape variety that takes its name from the pigeon's foot, red like the color of the shoot shortly before harvest. The grapes are grown using pergola and espalier training systems, in predominantly calcareous soil with dolomitic rock. The berries are harvested by hand in the second ten days of October. After the harvest, the grapes arrive whole in the laboratory, ready to be processed. After being destemmed and pressed, they undergo a maceration process for a duration of 12 days; this is followed by malolactic fermentation and maturation in second-passage oak barriques. After developing its full sensory profile, the nectar is aged for at least 6 months in French oak barrels before the final bottling stage. Furore Rosso encompasses all the Italianness of the Campania region and the terraces overlooking the sea.
