Description
What kind of wine is it
Les Saints Remys Grand Cru Lieu-Dit is the Champagne Brut Nature produced by Marguet. Made using the Traditional Method, this sparkling wine showcases all the clarity of Pinot Noir, presenting itself in the glass with a deep straw yellow colour enlivened by a fine perlage. The bouquet offers fragrant aromas of red fruits, well balanced by distinct yeast notes. On the palate, the taste is taut, fresh and elegant, with a notably persistent finish. Its structured character makes it ideal for pairing with raw fish, shellfish and selections of mature cheeses.
Where does it come from
The Champagne originates from the prestigious locations of Ambonnay and Bouzy. The historic vines grow on a small plot facing from south to north, cultivated entirely using biodynamic agriculture. The deep soil, composed of silt and red clay on a solid chalk base, ensures the wine has great gustatory tension and vibrant aromatic definition. To protect the agronomic balance and respect natural rhythms, Marguet relies exclusively on working with horses, preserving the vitality of the soil intact.
How is it produced
The vinification follows a strictly artisanal approach, aimed at maximising the expression of the raw material. The prise de mousse takes place according to the Traditional Method, giving the wine great structural finesse. The prolonged ageing on the lees perfectly integrates the perlage, enriching the drinking experience with depth and evolved nuances. The precise technical choice of total absence of dosage results in an essential profile, capable of conveying the peculiarities of the terroir with clarity and extreme expressive purity.
History and Curiosities
Marguet Les Saints Remys Grand Cru originates from a 0.37-hectare plot with vines planted in 1975 and 1992 on red clay and chalk soil. In full respect of biodynamic principles, the estate works the land exclusively with the help of horses. The result is a fascinating pure Pinot Noir transformed into an elegant Traditional Method Champagne with zero dosage. Produced in 1,823 bottles in the 2021 vintage with minimal sulphites, it expresses vibrant elegance and dedication to the French terroir.

The domaine tends old vines with an average age of around 40 years, spread across two of the most renowned terroirs of the Montagne de Reims:
8 total estate-owned hectares:
7.30 hectares in Ambonnay, distributed among the renowned crus Les Saints Remys, Les Beurys, Les Crayères, La Grande Ruelle, Les Bermonts, and Le Parc
0.70 hectares in Bouzy, divided between the Les Loges and Les Hannepés parcels
In the vineyard, every practice adheres to certified Organic and Demeter ecological and holistic principles.
Since 2010, soil tilling has been carried out exclusively with horses to avoid tractor-induced soil compaction, protect wild flora, preserve biodiversity, and connect directly with the chalk subsoil.
Vine care and defense rely on herbal macerations, infusions, and decoctions, complemented by the targeted use of essential oils, completely excluding synthetic chemicals.
In the cellar, vinification follows the natural energy of the raw fruit without invasive intervention, utilizing gentle, natural methods:
Gravity-fed transfers: Musts and base wines are moved by natural fall to minimize mechanical stress.
Aging and naturopathic approach: Significant emphasis is placed on extended lees aging and on the wine's energetic balance.
Expressive purity: The primary objective is to enhance the chalky minerality and authentic identity of each individual parcel and vintage—a principle epitomized by the Sapience range, the famed prestige cuvée crafted from certified organic grapes.
