From this winery
Ditta Tartarini was founded in 1755 by Antonio Tartarini, a merchant of spirits and distillates in Pieve di Cento. It was then continued by his son Guido and after more than a century of proven experience, in the late 1800s it became a flourishing liqueur factory, the ‘’Premiata Liquoreria Giulio Tartarini‘’, deservedly awarded the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the 1909 Florence International Exhibition for its most representative product, ‘’Liquore del Reno‘’.

The company's success of the period, which placed the liqueur factory among the best on the market, is linked to the extraordinary quality of the liqueurs and the refined images of women's faces that characterise the elegant labels and all the historical propaganda material. Production technique Gentiana Lutea: is a protected plant that grows spontaneously on the Apennines and in the mountains even over 2000 m above sea level. Its harvest is regulated. The root is macerated in alcohol for at least 45 days and a fragrant essence is extracted from it, with a characteristic bitter note and renowned digestive properties. Chinese Rhubarb: the drug obtained from the long maceration of the rhizomes has purifying and invigorating properties known for millennia and gives the liqueur an unmistakable aroma. Peppermint: is a rather common herbaceous plant. The freshly picked leaves are macerated in alcohol at a controlled temperature to keep the fresh and balsamic notes unaltered.
