On the palate, it is rounded and enveloping, characterised by a pronounced savouriness that masterfully balances the residual sugar typical of the Feinherb style. Served at a temperature of 10-12 °C, it pairs naturally with fish dishes, poultry, veal and fresh cheeses. Awarded a score of 94/100 by Robert Parker, it boasts an ageing potential estimated between five and ten years.

Where it comes from

This Prädikatswein originates from the Niedermenniger Herrenberg vineyard, located in the Saar area, within the renowned Mosel wine region. The exceptional terroir imparts extraordinary aromatic clarity and a distinct saline character to the wine. The Hofgut Falkenstein estate, led by Erich Weber with the contribution of his son Johannes, devotes meticulous care to vineyard work to enhance the characteristics of the terroir. The aim is to produce elegant Saar Rieslings capable of expressing a clear harmony between the natural components and the classic interpretation of the appellation.

How it is produced

The winemaking process respects the delicacy of the Riesling grapes, preserving their intrinsic fruit tension. After a careful harvest, the process continues to maintain the aromatic precision that defines the Kabinett. The subsequent ageing phase consolidates the aromatic purity and makes the wine more harmonious, skilfully blending the gentle sweetness with the underlying mineral savouriness. The result ensures a smooth and balanced sip, offering in the glass a faithful and rigorous interpretation of Mosel viticulture.

History and Curiosities

This exceptional Riesling Kabinett Feinherb is born from the passion and dedication of Erich and Johannes Weber, masters of viticulture in the renowned Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region. The magnificent 2023 vintage, awarded 94 points by Robert Parker, reflects the true essence of the Niedermennig area, offering a Prädikatswein of absolute prestige. Contains sulphites.

From this winery
Erich Weber of Hofgut Falkenstein makes ultra-traditional, dry-tasting Saar Rieslings. He likes to call himself "Winzer Weber." (Winzer is German for winegrower.) In other words, the emphasis is on the work in his vineyards, where he spends most of his days. With his tan and rugged face, he looks the part, too. Since his middle son, Johannes, has joined him full-time, there has been more of a focus on Rieslings with residual sugar. In recent years, their wines have also caught the attention of critics, both in and outside Germany. Read more
