Description
What kind of spirit is this?
Glenfiddich Fire & Cane by Glenfiddich is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Scotland that unites soft campfire smoke with sweetness. Crafted from barley smoked with Highland peat, it presents a profile of green fruit and sweet baked apple. The palate delivers clear notes of vanilla toffee, caramel, and vibrant cinnamon. Bottled at 43% alcohol by volume, it culminates in a soft smoky finish that is highly enjoyable served neat or over ice to enhance its citrus notes.
How it is produced
Production begins with the distillation of malted barley using squat, onion-shaped and tall, slim stills, gently smoked to introduce a controlled depth. The spirit initially matures in oak casks, building a robust structure and developing woody flavours. It then undergoes a Latin American rum cask finish, imparting a sweetness characterised by caramel and vanilla. This method creates a layered flavour profile with warming cinnamon and a prolonged sweet finish.
History and Trivia
Launched in 2018 as part of the innovative Experimental Series, Glenfiddich Fire & Cane honours founder William Grant, who established the Speyside distillery in 1886. Presented in the iconic triangular bottle, this visionary spirit masterfully unites gentle Highland peat with a rich Latin American rum cask finish. This unique maturation process delivers an exceptional single malt in which campfire smokiness harmonises perfectly with vibrant toffee sweetness, continuing the trailblazing legacy of the brand’s first global release in 1963.

Today, thanks to the vision of Charles Gordon, great‑grandson of founder William Grant, single malt Scotch whisky has become increasingly recognized compared to the equally popular blended whisky. In 1988, single malt Scotch whisky was officially protected and regulated by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth through the Scotch Whisky Act, which defined the rules for the entire production process.
