Description
What kind of wine it is
The Champagne Comme Autrefois Brut by Françoise Bedel is a refined sparkling wine, the result of rigorous biodynamic agriculture practised in the renowned French region. This elegant blend combines the distinctive qualities of Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to deliver a clear, fresh and long-lasting sip. Crafted according to the principles of the Traditional Method, the Champagne reveals a distinctly vinous aromatic profile and a complex structure that unfolds gradually on the palate. Its strong gastronomic vocation makes it the ideal companion for starters, mature cheeses, lean fish dishes and game-based preparations.
Where it comes from
The grapes come from plots located in the Marne Valley, spread across the areas of Crouttes-sur-Marne, Nanteuil-sur-Marne, Charly-sur-Marne and Villiers-Saint-Denis. Françoise Bedel's vineyards cover nine hectares, with vines aged between thirty and sixty years. This meticulous management aims to enhance the potential of the different subsoils. The soil, characterised by clay, silt and marl resting on a solid limestone base, gives this wine a defined structure, ensuring a pleasant freshness and remarkable depth of flavour.
How it is produced
The production of this cuvée involves the use of selected barrels, ideal for enhancing the character of the raw material. The subsequent refermentation in the bottle takes place according to the Traditional Method, a key element for the formation of the mousse. The wine rests on the lees for thirteen years, undergoing a long maturation that consolidates its structure and aromatic nuances. This process imparts a clear vinous character and a satisfying progression on the palate. The technical profile highlights a pronounced liveliness, supporting an ageing potential estimated between fifteen and twenty-five years.
