Description

A still red from the heart of Tuscany, a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, 14.5% ABV, produced by Fanti. Vintage 2013, 0.75L bottle. A wine that embodies the history and passion of a family, with Sangiovese grapes carefully cultivated in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate vineyards. Manual harvesting in October, temperature-controlled fermentation, and aging in barriques and large barrels for at least 24 months give this Brunello extraordinary complexity. The aroma is a riot of red fruit, plum, wild berries, spicy notes, and hints of blond tobacco and white chocolate. The color is a vibrant and intense ruby. On the palate, it is very intense, with present yet enveloping tannins that blend with a fresh, balanced, and lively acidity. A long-lasting wine with a spicy, complex, and fresh note. Perfect with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

The area of vineyards has been developed in the amphitheatre of the south facing hills of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, at 350-430m asl, a part of which are to be found quite near the wonderful Roman Basilica of Sant'Antimo, and the rest in the hill side slopes from Castelnuovo dell'Abate toward Orcia. The soil is limy with stratified formation of "galestro" (marls). The climate is extremely particular and at one and the same time favours robust and elegant wines because of the strong exposure to the sun during the day thanks to the configuration of the hills where the vineyards are located, with a good thermal drop at night due to the fresh winds coming from nearby Mount Amiata.

In 2004 we began building the new, spacious and rationally thought-out cellar for wine-making, ageing and refinement, specifically to improve handling of the selected grapes produced with extreme care in our vineyards so that we can offer the market truly characteristic high quality wines, which is fully harmonised with the soil and climate where the vineyards are located. Because of our desire to create quality in all its smallest details, a cellar has been designed to "process" the grapes using gravity. This avoids useless pumping and replaces the pump under the house which has been rendered inadequate by the company's transformation.
