Description
Still red from the Rhône, France, 15% ABV, produced by Domaine de la Janasse. Blend: 55% Merlot, 25% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Grenache. 0.75L bottle, 2022 vintage. A wine born from the passion of Aimé Sabon, who founded Domaine de la Janasse in 1973, taking its name from the family estate. The Bussière vineyard, on gravelly soil in Courthézon, bordering the Ouvèze River, yields an intense and complex wine. Aromas of raspberry, licorice, blackcurrant, and spice blend into an enveloping bouquet. Notes of black fruit and leather linger on the palate, lingering in a lingering finish.

Due to its fragmented structure -more than sixty plots- the area of La Janasse covers a mosaic of terroirs. Thorough research on soil, exposure and microclimates helped to ideally organize the vineyard. White varieties and syrahs were preferably planted on sandy limestones, exposed eastward of the appellation in order to preserve freshness, acidity and fineness. Mourvedres were planted on clay-limestone soils covered with river rocks so as to reach perfect maturity. Read more
