Laura Lorenzo approached winegrowing in 2000 and gained experience in the Val de Bibei area, where she started working at the Dominio de Bibei winery in the southeast of Ribeira Sacra.

In 2014, she settled in the unique zone of Manzaneda in the south-eastern limit within the Ribeira Sacra denomination of origin. She embarked on a personal project with her partner Alvaro Dominguez, a chef by profession, who supports her in viticulture and the winery. Daterra is the result of collaboration with various winegrowers who have been cultivating old vines for years, most of them planted in the first half of the 20th century, around the Val do Bibei, in the area of Manzaneda and Pobra de Trives, and until 2015, on the other side of the Bibei River, formerly in the Valdeorras Denomination of Origin.

Laura cultivates, in collaboration with local farmers, around 30 plots in a total area of 4.5 hectares. The vineyards have different red and white grape varieties, with the majority being the indigenous varieties Mencia, Mouraton, Garnacha Tintureira, Gran Noir, Merenzao, Dona Blanca, Colgadeira, Godello and Palomino.
