A pure Sangiovese that does not seek to compete with the great DOC and DOCG wines of the Tuscan empire, but instead takes a different path, challenging itself with complexity, altitude and terroirs that have been underappreciated until now, but which express a personal and perceptible character.

Fresh and inviting on the nose, with hints of potpourri, hibiscus tea, blood orange peel, sour cherries, blackberries, mastic, juniper, myrtle, bay leaf, liquorice, eucalyptus, spices and almost ferrous iodine notes.

Originally from Bassano del Grappa, he began his career as a winemaker in 1987 in Montalcino. In 1999, he founded Winemaking, a consulting group specializing in agronomy and oenology. In 2006, he was named "Best Italian Winemaker" at the "Oscar del Vino" awards. In 2007, he received the Luigi Veronelli Award as "Best Italian Food and Wine Writer." In 2009, Wine & Spirits declared the Achaval-Ferrer Winery, under his guidance, "Best Winery in the World."
